Supporting Each Other and Our Communities: National Urban Extension Leaders Inequities Dialogue

National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) mission is to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long-term value of urban Extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.

• Extension needs to support its professionals by addressing internal systemic racism.
• Extension needs to be involved in community conversations around race today.

National Urban Extension Leaders, in collaboration with the Southern Rural Development Center and Michigan State University, are excited to host a listening dialogue to inform decision makers next steps in addressing inequities internal to urban Extension and supporting urban Extension professionals to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

This supportive dialogue space has been designed with all urban Extension professionals in mind, regardless of your position or time with Extension. Each of us living and working in urban areas has ideas on how Extension can better support us and how we can improve our support of our communities. This listening dialogue is an opportunity for us to compile those ideas into one document. A final report will be reviewed by NUEL to map a strategy complementing our current and historical contributions. Your feedback will also be shared with state Extension administrators as a resource to help inform their next steps.

• This dialogue will be held on July 20, 2020 from 2:00pm-3:30pm EST.
